Burmese Migrant Workers Face Risk of Deportation in Thailand

[ePrayer – Pray for the Burmese migrant workers in Northern Thailand]

About 200,000 illegal Burmese migrant workers are among some 400,000 illegal foreign workers in Thailand who are due to be deported back to their respected countries if they do not register under the Thai’s government National Verification Programme by the deadline in December. Many Burmese migrants have not pursued the official steps of verifying their identities because they fear disclosing personal information and their addresses to authorities in Myanmar. Our partner MMF is supporting Burmese workers in Chiang Rai and other districts in Northern Thailand. MMF is providing legal assistance, awareness raising of rights within the migrant workers community and creating a network of volunteers.

Pray for the Burmese migrant workers in Northern Thailand:

  • Pray for partner MMF as they reach out to migrant workers in need. Pray that the programme can respond holistically and help uphold the rights and protection of the migrant workers.
  • Pray for the 400,000 illegal foreign workers to register successfully. The registration is due to expire on Dec 14.
